Donald Trump’s former White House communications director, Alyssa Farah says her MAGA-supporting father and stepmother boycotted her wedding because she publicly criticized the former president.
Farah got married to her long-time partner Justin Griffin last November. Her dad, Joseph Farah, the founder of the conservative news and conspiracy website WorldNetDaily and his wife Elizabeth Graham decided to skip the event due to “political differences after I spoke out against President Trump,” Farah told The View.
“I recently got married back in November, and this is such a tough topic, so keep in mind two things: COVID has made people shrink their friend groups, their family groups. People aren’t being around each other if they are not open to getting vaccinated. Add to that, political polarization,” she said. “In my situation, personally, I had to deal with two people very close to me, my father and stepmother, who didn’t want to attend my wedding.”
“The answer was simple. Like, I love them. They were welcome to be there on my end,” Farah explained. “But if they didn’t want to be there, why would I interrupt my special day by trying to have them there?”
Farah has been a vocal critic of Donald Trump since she left the White House in early December 2020. She called for him to resign after the Jan. 6 Capitol riot and warned of a “nightmare scenario” in which Trump would impose some form of autocracy if he wins the presidency in 2024.
Farah is among the group of nearly three dozen former Trump administration staffers who are working together to counter Donald Trump heading into the midterms and 2024 presidential race.
