Alyssa Farah Griffin, a former communications official in Donald Trump’s White House says it is “remarkable” how voters aren’t as concerned about Trump’s age as they are about President Joe Biden’s considering that the former president has “gotten worse.”
Reacting to a clip of Trump’s weekend speeches where he confused Biden with former President Barack Obama, Griffin told CNN: “[Trump] is not as sharp as he was in 2016 and not even as sharp as he was in 2020.”
“For some reason, that doesn’t necessarily come across to voters the same way, but Donald Trump is not the strongest fighter that Republicans could have right now, and it’s remarkable how much voters don’t see the age as also an issue because he is only three and a half years younger than President Joe Biden but there is something about the way they carry themselves that is just seen very differently,” Griffin said
Trump has never been “articulate or elegant” Griffin admitted, but his frequent gaffes shows he has “gotten worse, it hasn’t gotten better.”
A new New York Times/Siena College poll found that 73% of registered voters believe Biden is too old to be an effective president, including 61% of those who voted for him in 2020.
Voters seem less bothered about Trump, who is just four years younger, with 42% of those polled saying he “just too old” to be an effective president.
