Four people, including a child are dead, after a mass shooting at an office complex in Orange, California,, a police official said.
Around 5:30 p.m on Wednesday, officers responded to a call about shots fired and was met with gunfire when they arrived at the scene. Officers engaged the suspect and “an officer-involved shooting did occur,” Orange Police Department spokesperson Lt. Jennifer Amat said.
The suspect was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds in critical condition. It is not clear if his injuries were self inflicted. One firearm was recovered from the scene.
A fifth victim was also taken to the hospital in critical condition.
According to CNN’s count, this is at least the 20th mass shooting since the Atlanta-area spa attacks two weeks ago that left eight people dead. CNN defines a mass shooting as a shooting incident which results in four or more casualties (dead or wounded), excluding the shooter.
