Fox News host jokes about attack on Pelosi's husband: 'Maybe Paul Pelosi needs the hammer’

A Fox News host mocked the violent attack on former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband which resulted in him spending a week in the hospital with a fractured skull.

On Friday, President Joe Biden presented the Medal of Freedom to nearly two dozen Americans including Former Speaker Pelosi (D-Calif.), Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-S.C), Michael Bloomberg, Al Gore and John Kerry.

But, Fox News weekend host Rachel Campos-Duffy suggested a list of people she believes is more deserving of the award during her appearance on Jesse Watters Primetime. Her list includes “America’s frat boys,” Donald Trump, Elon Musk and Kid Rock, according to a clip shared by Mediaite.

“That’s a great list,” guest host Pete Hegseth responded. “But it’s probably more likely to go to Paul Pelosi, Susan Rice, and Gavin Newsom. So, I think your list is correct, but a little off-brand for Big Joe.”

“Well, maybe Paul Pelosi needs the hammer instead of the medal,” Campos-Duffy said.

Paul Pelosi was attacked at home in October 2022 by an assailant wielding a hammer. The attacker, identified as David DePape, was looking for then-Speaker Pelosi who was not home at the time. Paul Pelosi was hospitalized for a week and underwent surgery for a skull fracture.

DePape was convicted on two federal charges last year for attempted kidnapping of a federal official as well as assault on a member of her family. His sentencing is scheduled for May 17.

DePape also faces state charges for attempted murder and other felonies, including residential burglary, elder abuse, and assault with a deadly weapon. Trial on the state charges is scheduled to begin May 7.
