Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy is placing some of the blame for the chaos surrounding the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan on First Lady Dr. Jill Biden.
“When you look at what’s hurting America, when you look at this lack of leadership, and you wonder who are the people responsible for putting someone this incompetent and frankly this, you know, mentally frail in this position?” Campos-Duffy said.
She went on to name some popular Democratic figures known to rile up the Trump base like former President Barack Obama, current head of the Domestic Policy Council Susan Rice and Valerie Jarrett, before settling on Jill Biden.
“I’m sorry, as a political spouse, I can’t help but look at Jill Biden,” she said. “No one knew better his state of mind than Dr. Jill Biden.” Campos-Duffy emphasized on Jill Biden’s distinction as a doctor, making it appear as if she is qualified to assess an individual’s mental state, instead of pointing out that the First Lady earned her doctorate in education.
“If you ask me, the most patriotic thing Jill Biden could have done was tell her husband— to love her husband and not let him run in this mental state that he’s in,” Campos-Duffy said. “I think she failed the country as well.”
Republicans have used the Afghanistan crisis to renew their attacks on President Biden’s mental health. Florida Sen. Rick Scott, who is a potential candidate for President in 2024 went as far as to suggest that Biden be removed from office through the 25th amendment.
