Nearly 40,000 fans packed the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas on Monday to watch the opening game between the Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays, amid the coronavirus pandemic.
According to reports, the team announced a sellout crowd of 38,238 just under the stadium’s official capacity. That attendance doesn’t include complimentary tickets to the game.
Many fans were not wearing face masks or practicing social distancing, despite the team saying prior the game that it would require attendees to do so except while eating or drinking. Â
On Monday, Texas reported nearly 3,000 new confirmed cases.
