George Santos accused of sexual harrassment by prospective staffer.

Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y) has been accused of ethics violations and sexual harassment by a former prospective aide.

In a letter to the House Committee on Ethics on Friday, Derek Myers, the prospective aide, requested an investigation into whether his work as a “volunteer” in Santos’ office violated ethics rules and outlined one instance in which the congressman allegedly sexually harassed him.

Myers alleged that on Jan. 25, Santos asked him whether he had an account on Grindr, a popular LGBTQ+ dating app and that Santos said he had a profile on the app.

Later that day Myers said he was alone with Santos in his personal office working through mail correspondence when Santos “called me ‘buddy’ and insisted I sit next to him on a small sofa.”

Myers alleged that Santos invited him to go to karaoke that night. Myers decline the invitation. He wrote that Santos then moved his hand “into my inner thigh and proceeded to touch my groin” while telling Myers that his husband was out of town.

Myers also said he was offered a job in Santos’ office on Jan. 23 but was working as a volunteer until the necessary paperwork was completed.

Working “within a congressional office without the correct procedures being followed is in violation of the House Ethics,” Myers wrote.

On Monday, Santos denied the allegations, telling CNN: “It’s comical. Of course, I deny that claim”
