GOP Congressman-elect George Santos (NY), who is facing mounting scrutiny over lies he told while running for office, once called President Joe Biden a “pathological liar”.
“BIDEN IS A PATHOLOGICAL LIAR,” Santos tweeted in August 2021.
The tweet resurfaced this week after Santos admitted that he lied about his work and education background after an investigation by the New York Times found that much of his backstory doesn’t add up.
Santos claimed he worked for Citigroup and Goldman Sachs though neither financial firms have proof of his employment. He also claimed to have graduated from Baruch College and New York University, earning degrees in finance and economics, and that he is Jewish.
He admitted in an interview with the New York post this week that he did not graduate from any institution of higher learning nor did he work at financial firms Citigroup or Goldman Sachs. He also told the outlet that he never “claimed to be Jewish” and instead had said he was “Jew-ish.” However, there are reports of Santos referring to himself as a “proud American Jew.”
Federal prosecutors have launched an investigation into Santos’ finances following the revelations and the office of the district attorney in Nassau county, N.Y announced they are investigating Santos as well.
