Georgia recount reaffirms Biden’s win, finds no evidence of widespread voter fraud.

The state of Georgia has completed their risk-limiting audit of the over 5 million votes in the state on Thursday and President-elect Biden has defeated Donald Trump.

Biden’s lead over Trump narrowed a bit but at the end of the day it was not enough. Biden won the state by 12,284 votes. The audit also confirmed there were no widespread voter fraud or irregularities in the election.

“Georgia’s historic first statewide audit reaffirmed that the state’s new secure paper ballot voting system accurately counted and reported results.” Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said in a statement. “This is a credit to the hard work of our county and local elections officials who moved quickly who moved quickly to undertake and complete such a momentous task in a short period of time.”

Georgia allows for a recount if the margin is less than .5%. It currently stands at .2%.

The recount outcome, “simply reaffirmed what we already knew: Georgia voters selected Joe Biden to be their next president,” Biden campaign’s communications director for Georgia, Jaclyn Rothenberg, said in a statement

“We are grateful to the election officials, volunteers and workers for working overtime and under unprecedented circumstances to complete this recount, as the utmost form of public service,” she said.
