A massive golden statue of a naked Donald Trump is on display inside the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France.

The 8.5-foot-tall statue titled “The Orange Plague” is covered in a thin layer of 23-karat gold and shows Trump sitting on the shoulders of a small, frail man, with a long golf club in one hand and the scales of justice in the other.

“I am sitting on the back of a man,” the text on the pedestal reads. “He is sinking under my burden. I will do anything to help him. Except step down from his back.”

The statue’s creator, Danish sculptor Jens Galschiøt, told HuffPost the statue depicts his “frustration with powerful leaders who put themselves above people and the planet, and use their power to decide for others.”

“It is a sculpture about power and powerlessness,” he added.

Danish politician Per Clausen sponsored the exhibit. It was approved by the parliament’s quaestors, a cross-party group of members of the European Parliament responsible for administrative matters.

“I think we need to have a discussion about power in the world and how this power is used,” Clausen told CNN in a phone interview. “The way Trump acts is a very, very big problem for people in Europe. I want to raise the discussion in Europe about how we can make our self-defense against Trump, and how can we make politics that is not dependent on him.”

He added that the response to the statue has been positive, except from “some people from the extreme right wing.”

“It’s very important that we in parliament have this opportunity to show things that not everybody agrees with,” Clausen said.

The statue will be on display until Thursday.

“The Orange Plague” has been displayed in public several times before, including at the Munich Security Conference and COP30 UN climate conference in Brazil last November. Its next stop will be at COP31 in Antalya, Turkey next month.
