Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has agreed to an interview with the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
The news of Thomas’ interview was first reported by CNN’s Jamie Gangel who cited a source close to the committee. The exact date of Thomas’ interview is not yet known but the source told Gangel it will be “in the coming weeks.”
Thomas was involved in a scheme to try and overturn the results of the election in two key states President Joe Biden won in the 2020 presidential election.
She urged lawmakers in Wisconsin to overturn Biden’s win there and sent text messages to more than two dozen Arizona lawmakers arguing that there was widespread fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
She also texted then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows urging him to continue to fight to overturn the election.
“Help This Great President stand firm, Mark!!!…You are the leader, with him, who is standing for America’s constitutional governance at the precipice. The majority knows Biden and the Left is attempting the greatest Heist of our History,” Thomas wrote to Meadows, according to the Washington Post.
Thomas will appear voluntarily before the committee. She was not subpoenaed.
