Giuliani testified that Trump ordered him to represent his campaign for free: Report.

Rudy Giuliani testified in court that he represented the Trump campaign for free after the election because the former president ordered him to do it.

Giuliani led the Trump campaign’s efforts to overturn the results of the election in court based on a bizarre conspiracy that voting machines companies conspired with Democrats to steal the election from Donald Trump.

Giuliani and other members of Trump’s circle who peddled this baseless theory was subsequently sued for defamation by Dominion Voting Systems executive Eric Coomer, who accused them of knowingly spreading false information about his involvement in election fraud.

According to newly released court documents obtained by Insider, Giuliani told an attorney for Coomer that he was not paid to represent the campaign and had only been reimbursed for his expenses.

Asked why he would represent the Trump campaign without getting paid, Giuliani replied: “The president — the president ordered me to do it.”

According to the deposition transcript, Trump called Giuliani into the Oval Office days after the election and told him, “go over and take over the campaign, tell them you’re in charge,” adding “it’s got to be straightened out.”

Trump has cut off Giuliani and is angry that he is asking to get paid for his work, according to Michael Wolff’s book, Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency. This as Giuliani continues to face mounting debts from the fallout that comes after representing the Trump campaign in their effort to challenge and overturn the 2020 election results.

It is not clear how much money Trump owes Giuliani, but according to the New York Times Giuliani gave a rate of $20,000-per-day to the Trump campaign for his work on the election lawsuits.
