Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Tx) railed against what he believes is a “two-tiered justice system” after former Trump advisor Peter Navarro was indicted for failing to comply with the House investigation of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
Gohmert argued that is unfair that Republicans are not allowed to lie to Congress and the FBI.
“It actually puts an exclamation point on the fact that we have a two-tiered justice system. If you’re a Republican, you can’t even lie to Congress or lie to an FBI agent or they’re coming after you. They’re gonna bury you. They’re gonna put you in the D.C. jail and terrorize and torture you and not live up to the Constitution there,” Gohmert said during an appearance in Newsmax.
Gohmert pointed to Michael Sussmann a former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer who was recently acquitted on a charge of lying to the FBI in special counsel John Durham’s investigation.
“So it’s very clear. If you’re a Democrat, then you can lie. You can cheat. You can do whatever you want,” he said.
Navarro hasn’t been charged with lying to Congress or the FBI. He is facing two charges of criminal contempt of Congress after being subpoenaed by the House select committee.
oops. Poor Louie, still an idiot.
