GOP congressman admits Biden impeachment probe found no evidence of a crime.

Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) suggested Sunday that the House impeachment investigation of President Joe Biden may not have found any evidence of criminal wrongdoing.

Bacon told host Kristen Welker on ‘Meet the Press‘ that attorneys hired by the House Oversight Committee, which is leading the impeachment probe, said based on what they’ve seen so far there was no crime committed by the president that warrants his removal from office.

“When I talked to the lawyers on the committee staff, they say at this point there’s not a specific crime that’s been committed,” Bacon said.

Bacon added that the Biden family finances need additional investigation and that he doesn’t know whether it’s time to drop it yet, but the impeachment probe in the House is “probably nearing the conclusion”.

“I think it was important for the American people to see that yes, there’s $24 million in foreign money that the family raised, and all the hidden LLC’s that the money was moved around it, but that within itself is not a high crime or misdemeanor,” he said.

Bacon and other vulnerable Republicans have soured on the House impeachment probe which was launched last year to investigate the Biden family on allegations that he benefited from and was influenced by his son Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings when he was serving as vice president.

The White House and Hunter Biden have repeatedly denied these claims and Republicans have yet to provide any evidence to support their allegations.

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-Ky.) is now left searching for an off-ramp to save face, and in previous weeks he has floated the idea of criminal referrals instead of impeachment.
