GOP congressman says Trump’s executive orders are “getting out of control.”

Rep. Troy Balderson (R-OH) suggested that Donald Trump is exceeding the limits of his constitutional authority with the slew of executive orders he signed since returning to office.

Speaking to local business owners at a Westerville Area Chamber business luncheon on Thursday, Balderson said Trump’s executive orders are “getting out of control,” adding that only Congress can do certain things.

“Congress has to decide whether or not the Department of Education goes away,” Balderson said, according to The Columbus Dispatch. “Not the president, not Elon Musk. Congress decides.”

Since returning to office a month ago, Trump has signed 73 executive orders, the most in a president’s first 100 days in more than 40 years.

The orders—some of which are illegal —include tariffs on Mexico, China and Canada, ending birthright citizenship, bans on transgender people serving in the military, curbing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and pausing foreign aid.

Trump has also signed orders empowering Musk, an unelected, South African-born billionaire, to slash the federal workforce and potentially shut down entire agencies created by Congress.
