GOP lawmaker booed at town hall while defending Trump’s ‘big, beautiful bill.’

Rep. Mike Flood’s (R-Neb.) town hall went off the rails on Monday evening as he faced anger from constituents while defending Donald Trump’s signature domestic policy legislation dubbed the ‘one big, beautiful bill.’

The bill, which Trump signed into law last month, cuts hundreds of billions of dollars in spending from Medicaid and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) which would result in at least 7.6 million Americans losing health care coverage from the Medicare cuts alone.

The town hall in Lincoln, Nebraska turned hostile as Flood tried to defend the cuts to angry constituents.

“There’s been a lot of misinformation about the bill,” Flood said at the event, before the crowd began shouting, “Liar!”

As the lawmaker claimed the Medicaid cuts in the bill will only affect able-bodied recipients, constituents booed and yelled “did you read it.”

Later in the event, a constituent asked Flood why he supported the bill that cuts “SNAP benefits and health care research,” earning applause from the audience.

“We do not have unlimited money in the United States,” Flood responded before his voice was drowned out by the loud boos from the crowd.

Several Republicans have faced tough town halls since Trump returned to office resulting in Republican congressional leadership advising GOP members in March not to hold in-person town halls.

This is Flood’s second town hall to descend into chaos. At a similar event in Seward, Nebraska in May, the congressman was relentlessly booed after admitting to not reading key parts of the bill before voting to pass it in the House.
