GOP lawmaker files articles of impeachment against Harris.

Tennessee Rep. Andy Ogles (R) filed articles of impeachment against Vice President Kamala Harris days after she launched her presidential campaign.

Ogles’ impeachment resolution claims Harris’ “willful refuse to uphold immigration laws,” as Republicans seek to highlight her immigration record in the presidential race against Donald Trump.

He added a second article in the filing claiming that Harris breached the public’s trust by covering up President Joe Biden’s mental well-being.

“Kamala Devi Harris has knowingly misled the people of the United States and the Congress of the United States, principally to obfuscate the physical and cognitive well-being of the President of the United States, Joe Biden,” the filing reads.

President Biden announced on Sunday that he is stepping aside as the presumptive presidential nominee for the Democratic Party and endorsed Harris. Even though he ended the campaign, Biden has vigorously defended his fitness for office and said he is in good health.

In a statement, Ogles argued Harris committed a high crime and misdemeanor by not invoking the 25th Amendment against Biden.

“Kamala Harris has betrayed the trust of the public by failing to exercise her sworn duty to employ the provisions of the 25th Amendment to remove President Biden from office when it became apparent that he was mentally and physically incapable of continuing to serve,” he said. “For these reasons alone, immediate action should be taken to impeach her.”

Ogles previously introduced articles of impeachment against Harris last year but they didn’t go beyond the introduction stage.

The initial articles claim Harris “demonstrated extraordinary incompetence in the execution of her duties and responsibilities, a stark refusal to uphold the existing immigration laws, and a palpable indifference to people of the United States suffering as a result of the ongoing southern border crisis in the United States.”

It is unclear whether Ogles’ new articles will make it to the House floor.
