Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) admitted that House Republicans push to impeach President Joe Biden is motivated by their need to help get Donald Trump elected in next year’s presidential election.
Rolling Stone caught up with Nehls at the Capitol Wednesday to ask him what he hopes to gain from House Republicans launching an impeachment inquiry.
“All I can say is Donald J. Trump 2024 baby,” Nehls responded.
Nehls’ comment come as the House is expected to vote to formalize the GOP impeachment inquiry into Biden.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., has been accusing the Biden family of engaging in shady business, and claims Biden benefited from their business dealings and was influenced by them while serving as vice president.
He is yet to provide any substantial evidence to support his claims.
This isn’t the first time Nehls admitted that House Republicans push to impeach Biden is purely political.
Earlier this month, Nehls told USA Today that if twice-impeached former President Trump ends up as the 2024 Republican nominee, Biden’s impeachment would give Trump “a little bit of ammo to fire back” in the general election.
