Republicans tried and epically failed to promote Donald Trump’s so-called ‘big, beautiful bill’ on Thursday.
In posts on social media across different platforms, the official GOP account included an image of Trump with his fist raised standing in front of a car with a caption saying “Making Automobiles Great Again”.
“The One Big Beautiful bill will drive the return of the great American car,” they wrote.
But, the car included in the picture is not American made, it was a Russian Lada and not a relatively new model but a VAZ-2101, one of the earliest models of the car produced in the 1970s
Ladas were manufactured in the Soviet Union in the 1970s and 80s. They weren’t even sold in the United States due to sanctions against Russia.
