GOP Rep. Kevin Brady tests positive for COVID-19.

Texas Rep. Kevin Brady announced on Tuesday that he has tested positive for coronavirus. He was on the House floor this week as recent as Sunday for an unexpected floor vote.

“Tonite the Office of House Physician informed me that I’ve tested positive for Covid 19 & am quarantined,” he tweeted. “As recommended, I received a first dose of the Pfizer vaccine Dec 18 & also recently tested negative for Covid on New Years Day.”

He will “begin treatment on Wednesday” and should “be fine.”

Brady is the second House Republican to test positive for coronavirus after receiving the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccine. Rep. Kay Granger announced her positive test on Tuesday.

The vaccine requires two doses several days apart to be at least 95% effective in preventing COVID.

Members of Congress were advised to get tested for COVID when they arrived in Washington, but they can go about their business as usual while awaiting their results if they don’t have symptoms or any known exposure to the virus.
