GOP Rep who thanked Trump for “historic victory for white life” in the Supreme Court, wins primary.

GOP lawmaker who calls Roe ruling a 'victory for white life' misread her remarks, her campaign says.

Rep. Mary Miller (R-Ill.), the GOP lawmaker who thanked Donald Trump for the “historic victory for white life” after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, won her primary on Tuesday night.

Miller defeated fellow incumbent and five-term Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) in the newly drawn 15th Congressional District. It is the state’s lone one-on-one GOP congressional primary matchup after redistricting.

Miller was endorsed by Trump who held a rally for her in the district on Saturday. But his appearance at the rally was overshadowed by the controversy that followed when Miller thanked him for the “historic victory for white life” after SCOTUS struck down Roe v. Wade.

Her campaign later said she had misread prepared remarks that included the phrase “right to life.”

Miller was first elected to Congress in 2020 and days after she was sworn in there were calls for her resignation because she praised Adolf Hitler on Jan. 6.

“Hitler was right on one thing. He said, ‘Whoever has the youth has the future,”  she said.

Miller also voted against certifying Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election. Trump turned on Davis because he supported having an independent commission to investigate the Jan. 6 riot. Davis did not support the House select committee now probing the Capitol attack.
