GOP senate candidate confuses Philadelphia, Mississippi with Pennsylvania.

Republican candidate for US Senate in Pennsylvania, Dave McCormick, confused Philadelphia, Miss., with Pennsylvania’s biggest city on Wednesday.

McCormick took to his X account to share a clip from a local Mississippi news station reporting on a shooting that police said was carried out by an alleged gang member from El Salvador who entered the United States illegally.

McCormick used the shooting to attack Vice President Kamala Harris and his opponent, incumbent U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D) over their policies on immigration.

“MS-13 gang members are terrorizing Philadelphians because of Harris & Casey’s radical open border policies,” McCormick wrote.

He deleted the tweet after Maddy McDaniel, the Communications Director for Casey’s campaign, responded saying, “Dave, this story is from Philadelphia, Mississippi — not Philadelphia, PA.”

“Since David McCormick lives in Connecticut, it’s not surprising he can’t tell the difference between Pennsylvania and Mississippi,” McDaniel added in another post. “We can help, Dave — Pennsylvania is the state that is going to reject you in November.”

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) also trolled McCormick over his ties to Connecticut.

“Things like this tend to happen for people who live in Connecticut but run for the Senate in Pennsylvania,” Fetterman wrote in a post on X.
