Republican candidate for U.S. senate in Colorado said Donald Trump should not run for president in 2024.
“As far as Trump’s concerned, I hope he doesn’t run. I don’t want to see him as president,” Joe O’Dea said on The Ross Kaminsky Show Friday. “I think a lot of people are ready to move our country forward. So I wouldn’t support him running again.”
In the 2024 GOP primary, O’Dea said he would support either Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C) or former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley.
O’Dea won the Colorado GOP Senate primary in June, defeating pro-Trump candidate state Rep. Ron Hanks. He will face incumbent Democratic senator Michael Bennet in November.
In the interview, O’Dea was also critical of Biden, saying he should not run again either because he’s “senile” and “the worst president we’ve ever had.”
“There’s a lot of great talent out there. We need to move this country forward,” O’Dea said. “I think that seeing a Biden-Trump rematch again in 2024 would rip the country apart.”
