GOP senator admits Republicans goal is to “cover” for Trump in Epstein case.

Mullin says Oklahomans would be "pretty upset" with him he didn't challenge union boss to a fight over mean tweets.

Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) said the quiet part out load on Thursday when he admitted that the party’s goal in the Jeffrey Epstein fallout is to provide “cover” for Donald Trump.

Democrats have been trying to force a vote to compel the Trump administration to release documents on the late convicted sex offender.

Last Thursday, Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) requested unanimous consent to pass a resolution demanding the release of Epstein-related documents. But Mullin blocked it, calling the move “pure theater.”

Gallego reintroduced the legislation on Thursday citing new a report from CNN about never-before-seen photos and videos of Epstein and Trump and new reports from the Wall Street Journal about a birthday card Trump sent to Epstein and that Attorney General Pam Bondi told Trump he is in the Epstein files in May.

Mullin blocked the resolution again arguing that if the documents are released through Congress it will be a partisan exercise and said the quiet part out loud, admitting that Republicans’ goal is to provide “cover” for the Trump administration.

“Well, I’m sure Congress has never once played politics with any information. I’m sure that this investigation will be handled like many of the other investigations have been handled in this administration, like Democrats have done over the last eight years. I’m sure it will be handled like every other thing, like going after the baseless impeachments or the baseless special counsels, or the unbelievable amount of charges they tried to file against the president. I’m sure this will be handled the exact same way,” Mullin said.

“What we’re simply wanting to do here is give them cover,” Mullin added, referring to the Trump administration.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) sent lawmakers home early for the August recess this week to avoid any votes on Epstein-related documents.
