GOP Senator calls for ‘destructive’ Musk to leave the White House: “Get him out, the sooner the better”

A Republican senator is calling for right wing billionaire Elon Musk to be removed from the White House, saying he grows more “destructive” the longer he is there.

The unnamed senator was responding to comments Musk made about impeaching federal judges who issue rulings blocking Donald Trump’s executive orders seeking to expand the power of the presidency and reshape the U.S. government.

“Wrong, wrong, wrong. Get him out of the White House. Get him out, the sooner the better,” the senator told The Hill. “Every day that he’s there, he seems more destructive.”

Another GOP senator said Musk’s aggressive bid to shrink the federal government is causing havoc especially in his state which he says is home to “a lot” of federal workers.

“There’s a lot of concern among my constituents,” the senator said. “The concern is, ‘Who is this guy?’ He’s a billionaire, which puts him in a certain category. ‘How does he have the authority if he’s not elected by anybody to do what he’s doing?’”

According to the Hill, there’s is a growing sense among Senate Republicans that Musk is a liability. His is deeply unpopular with crucial groups and he’s already being targeted by Democrats.

An Economist/YouGov poll of 1,595 adult citizens conducted Feb. 9-11 found that 49% of Independents disapprove of Musk’s handling of DOGE and just 31% approve.

The survey also found that self-described moderates disapproved of Musk’s leadership of DOGE by 21 points, with 33% approving and 54% disapproving.
