GOP senator pours cold water on House GOP impeachment investigation.

Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla) suggested that the allegations leveled against President Joe Biden by House Republicans would not be considered impeachable offenses because Biden was not serving as president at the time.

“The bar is real high. There’s not question about it,” Mullin told Newsmax Friday. “It’s got to be a misdemeanor or high crime or treason and the other part has to be committed while he was in office. The current office that he holds.”

“So, what he did as a vice president or what he did in-between the two may not be impeachable,” Mullin added.

Mullin comments come after every House Republican voted to formalize an impeachment inquiry into President Biden on Wednesday. The inquiry will look into whether Biden improperly benefited or was influenced by his son Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings while serving as vice-president.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer is yet to provide any evidence to support his allegations. Both Biden and his son have denied any wrongdoing.
