Greenlander makes ‘MAGA’ merch with a twist ahead of Usha Vance’s visit.

A Greenlandic creator has made a ‘MAGA’ hat to send a clear message to the United States ahead of Second Lady Usha’s Vance visit to the island.

Aannguaq Reimer-Johansen, has created a MAGA hat that reads: “Make America Go Away,” a play on the MAGA (Make America Great Again) slogan popularized by Donald Trump during his successful presidential campaigns.

The hat comes days before Second Lady Vance’s visit to the island this week. She will be joined by White House national security adviser Mike Waltz and Secretary of Energy Chris Wright.

Vance’s office characterized the visit as one dedicated to learning about Greenlandic culture with stops at historical sites and its national dogsled race.

However, Reimer—Johansen described the visit as a “charm offensive” after Donald Trump’s repeated statements that the U.S. should take over Greenland.

He is encouraging the people of Greenland to wear the hat during Vance’s visit to show that “they do not want the U.S. to take over their nation.”

Trump re-upped his first-term suggestion for the U.S to control Greenland, the world’s largest island and a semiautonomous territory within Denmark, during the presidential transition. The island’s leaders have said they are “not for sale”

The leader of the island’s center-right Demokraatit party, which just won the recent election, Friederik Nielsen, told Sky News: “We don’t want to be Americans.”

Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede said in a statement that Vance’s upcoming visit is part of a “very aggressive American pressure against the Greenlandic community” and called for the international community to step in to condemn it, according to ABC News.
