Harris campaign slams Trump for backing out of ABC debate: ‘Mr. Anytime, Anywhere, Anyplace….too scared to show up.’

Harris leads or is tied with Trump in every state except one.

The presumptive Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris, campaign fired back at Donald Trump on Saturday after the former president rescheduled an upcoming debate to his home turf.

On Friday, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform that he is backing out of a Sept. 10 ABC News hosted debate he previously scheduled with President Joe Biden’s campaign and has agreed to a Sept. 4 debate with Harris on Fox News.

“The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest,” Trump wrote.

Harris has previously said she plans to stick to the original debate schedule set by the Biden campaign.

In a statement on Saturday, Harris’ campaign accused Trump of “running scared” by trying to back out the debate.

“Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to and running straight to Fox News to bail him out,” the Harris campaign said. “He needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he already committed to on Sept 10. The Vice President will be there one way or the other to take the opportunity to speak to a prime time national audience.”

“We’re happy to discuss further debates after the one both campaigns have already agreed to,” it said. “Mr. Anytime, anywhere, anyplace should have no problem with that unless he’s too scared to show up on the 10th.”

At a recent campaign rally in Atlanta, Harris dared Trump to debate her saying that if the former president has something to say to her he should “say it to my face.”
