Vice President Kamala Harris dared Donald Trump to debate her at a rally on Tuesday after the formee president appears to be asking out on meeting her on the debate stage.
“Last week, you may have seen, he pulled out of the debate in September he had previously agreed to. So, here’s the funny thing about that. So he won’t debate, but he and his running mate sure seem to have a lot to say about me, and by the way, don’t you find some of their stuff to just be plain weird?” Harris said a campaign rally in Atlanta, Georgia.
“Well, Donald, I do hope you’ll reconsider to meet me on the debate stage because as the saying goes, if you got something to say, say it to my face!” she added.
Harris’ comment comes as Trump appears to be wavering on debating her.
The Trump campaign had initially agreed to a second debate with President Joe Biden in September. But the president has since dropped out of the race and Harris has reportedly secured a majority of delegates to be declared the the official nominee Democratic Party nominee for president at next month’s convention.
In a Fox News interview that aired on Monday, Trump said that while he is open to debating Harris he “can also make a case for not doing it.”
The Trump campaign also said in a statement last week that he would only debate Harris when it became clear she would be the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee.
