Democratic presidential nominee Vice-President Kamala Harris leads Donald Trump by six points in a new post-debate survey.
In the Morning Consult poll released Tuesday 51 percent of likely voters say they would support Harris compared to 45 percent for Trump.
Harris’ lead doubles the 3-point advantage she had over Trump before their debate last week. It is also the highest level of support Harris has received in the poll so far.
Meanwhile, 2 percent of likely voters say they would prefer someone else, and another 2 percent had no opinion.
Harris also leads Trump among independents (47%-41%), young voters (56%-41%) and Black voters (78%-18%).
The poll also found that Harris is more liked than the former president with 53 percent of likely voters having a favorable view of the vice president—her highest in the poll to date—while 44 percent have a favorable view of Trump.
The poll was released one week after the presidential debate which was an overwhelming victory Harris. 61 percent of likely voters—including 1 in 5 Republicans—say Harris won the debate, while 33% say Trump did.
The Morning Consult survey was conducted from Sept. 13-15, 2024, among 11,022 likely U.S. It has a margin of error of +/-1 percentage point.
