Vice President Kamala Harris is leading or tied with Donald Trump in all but one of the seven battleground states.
A swing state survey conducted by the nonpartisan election handicapper Cook Political Report, shows Harris continuing to surge and remains a more formidable opponent to Trump than President Joe Biden.
In a head-to-head matchup, Harris leads Trump by 1 point in North Carolina and Pennsylvania, 2 points in Arizona and 3 points in Michigan and Wisconsin.
Trump and Harris are tied in Georgia, but it is still good news for Harris as Trump led Biden by 3 points in May.
The one state where Trump still leads is Nevada, though Harris has narrowed his margin by six points since the last survey in May.
Overall, Harris holds a narrow lead of 48% to 47% in swing states in the head-to-head matchup.
It is a similar story in the race with third-party candidates though Harris’ lead increased to 4 points in Arizona, 2 points in North Carolina and 5 points in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Harris’ overall lead also increased to 2 percent
Both candidates remain tied in Georgia in a race with third party candidates though in Michigan Harris’ lead shrunk by one point while Trump’s previously 8 point lead in Nevada in May shrunk to 5 points.
Amy Walter, editor-in-chief of the Cook Political Report attributed Harris’ success in closing the gap to “consolidation of the Democratic base, and increased support among independent voters.”
