Trump-backed candidate for U.S. Senate in Georgia Herschel Walker tried to explain climate change, air quality and the green new deal, and it went exactly as you’d expect.
At a Hall County GOP Independence Day picnic on Sunday, Walker explained that the Green New Deal would force America’s “good air” to “float” to China, and China’s “bad air” would then replace America’s “good air.”
“We need energy for everything,” Walker said. “They would talk about the Green New Deal, you know climate change. I’m gonna help ya’ll with that real quickly.”
“We in America have some of the cleanest air and the cleanest water of anybody in the world. So what we do is we gonna put from Green New Deal millions and billions of dollars cleaning our good air. So all of a sudden China and India, they put nothing cleaning that situation up,” Walker explained.
“So with all their bad air, but since we don’t control the air, our good air decided to float over to China – bad air. So when China gets our good air, their bad air got to move. So it moves over to our good air space. Then now we got to clean that back up,” he concluded.
The comments come after the Daily Beast reported last week that some of Walker’s campaign aides are concerned about his fitness for office.
Walker has been under fire in recent weeks following reports that he has three children he kept hidden from the public. The mom of one his children sued him in 2014 in order to obtain a declaration of paternity and child support.
Walker is facing incumbent Democratic senator Raphael Warnock in November. A recent Quinnipiac poll shows Warnock leading by 10 points.
