The Republican nominee from Georgia for the U.S. Senate, Herschel Walker said on Saturday that he “never denied” having four children following reports this week about his three ‘secret’ children.
“Well, first of all, they knew the truth. You know, I’ve never denied any of my kids and I love them more than I love anything. And they didn’t do anything, which just makes me want to fight harder because I’m tired of people misleading the American people. I’m tired of people misleading my family,” Walker told the audience at the Faith and Freedom Coalition’s annual “Road to Majority” conference in Tennessee, according to the Associated Press.
The comments came after the Daily Beast reported earlier this week that Walker, who routinely blasts absentee fathers, has a 10-year-old son and he hasn’t played an active role in his life. The boy’s mother sued Walker in 2014 in order to obtain a declaration of paternity and child support.
The outlet later revealed that Walker has a 13-year-old son with a different woman and a now-adult daughter who he had when he was about 20 years old and a star running back on the University of Georgia football team.
Until this week, Walker has only ever publicly acknowledge his 22-year-old son Christian Walker.
Walker said Saturday that he “knew what I signed up for when I got into this and they don’t realize that,” but “no weapon formed against me should ever prosper,” he added.
Walker will face Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock in the November general election. He has been endorsed by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump. Walker has faced serious allegations throughout his campaign including that he threatened to kill his ex-wife and spread numerous falsehoods.
Earlier this week, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that Walker lied about being a law enforcement officer. He claimed he worked with the Cobb County, Georgia police, and that he was an FBI agent.
The Cobb County police reported having no record of involvement with him. Walker has never been an FBI agent since that would require at least a bachelor’s degree, which he does not have.
