Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton criticized Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for sending migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, calling the stunt ‘literally human trafficking.”
“Some politicians would rather not only have an issue, but exacerbate it to the extent of literally human trafficking,” Clinton told host Joe Scarborough on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
On Wednesday, DeSantis sent two planes loaded with migrants to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachussetts, while Abbott sent two buses of migrants to Vice President Kamala Harris’ residence in Washington.
Scarborough also called the move “political human trafficking,” adding that migrants are “being used as political props to own the libs.”
“I think, Joe, you have laid out the craziness of the time in which we’re living,” Clinton responded.
“So many other Americans, I happen to believe still the majority of Americans are goodhearted and generous. And when people end up on their doorstep, it needs they’re going to respond,” Clinton added. “They’re going to feed them and house them. And the kids in the AP Spanish class are going to be let out of high school so they could go and translate.”
President Joe Biden also slammed the governors during his speech at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute gala on Thursday evening, according to Newsweek.
“Republicans are playing politics with human beings, using them as props. What they’re doing is simply wrong, it’s un-American, it’s reckless,” Biden said “And we have a process in place to manage migrants at the border. We’re working to make sure it’s safe and orderly and humane. Republican officials should not interfere with that process by waging these political stunts.”
