House Republicans want a “massacre” in special elections so the GOP will ditch Musk.

House Republicans are privately rooting for a bloodbath in Tuesday’s special elections in key races in Wisconsin and Florida so the White House can ditch Elon Musk.

According to Politico, Republicans are worried that if they don’t push the White House to cut Musk loose, they risk repeating 2017 and 2018, when Democrats scored gains in Trump’s first term, only this time it will be worse because Democrats will have two targets: Musk and Trump.

While Republicans admit there is likely nothing they can do to stop Trump and his inflationary tariffs, they’re hoping Tuesday’s election results will be a wake up call for the White House to get rid of Musk.

GOP lawmakers say Musk has energized Democrats and independents with his cavalier attempt to slash the federal government.

An ”April 1st massacre” would be “a beautiful thing,” an unnamed House Republican told Politico.

“There will be 26 or so people watching Tuesday, and they’ll decide how they want to be part of the team going forward,” the lawmaker added referring to the most vulnerable GOP lawmakers.

A win by Susan Crawford, the Democratic-aligned nominee for a Wisconsin Supreme Court seat and a narrow victory by the Republican candidate in Florida in a district Trump won by more than 30 points in November will be enough to send the message, GOP lawmakers say.

Such an outcome will let Republicans grasp the political damage Musk is doing because “the shit he puts up on the internet” about government spending or savings “is wrong,” another lawmaker said.

Musk has invested heavily in the Wisconsin Supreme Court race to influence the outcome. He has personally donated $3 million of his money to the state’s Republican party and groups aligned with him have spent more than $19 million on the race.
