ICE agents caught on video urinating in school parking lot in public view

Several U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were captured on surveillance video urinating in a school parking lot in California.

The incident occurred on June 17 after about 10 marked and unmarked vehicles carrying agents entered and parked on the campus of Ruben Salazar High School, El Rancho Unified School District (ERUSD) officials said in a letter Wednesday to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and acting ICE director Todd Lyons.

The school district said agents did not obtain permission before entering the campus and did not provide a reason for their presence in the high school parking lot.

Agents complied with officials request to leave, but they returned shortly after to urinate in the school’s parking lot, surveillance video shows.

“ERUSD surveillance footage captured approximately 10 ICE agents urinating near storage containers on the Salazar campus parking lot,” school board president John Contreras said.

“Any reasonable person, of any profession, entering Salazar where the ICE agents were urinating would clearly recognize the surroundings to be those of a school where minors are taught,” Contreras added. “ICE agents unlawfully trespassed ERUSD school grounds and did not exercise sound and respectful judgment with the risk of exposing themselves to minors and committing a public offense under California law.”

Superintendent Marco Villegas said while the campus was empty the incident happened near a city park and Valencia Academy of the Arts Elementary School, which was hosting summer classes at the time. It’s unclear whether federal agents were in plain view of the students, CBS News reports.

Villegas and Contreras are demanding a federal investigation into the incident and a report of its findings. They are also requesting the names, titles and badge numbers of each agent who were present at the scene.

In a statement to media outlets, a DHS spokesperson said “the matter is under investigation.”
