Idaho Lt. Gov. Janice McGeachin flashed a gun and a bible in a video protesting orders issued in the state to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus.
McGeachin was seen sitting in a truck with an American flag, smiling as she placed her gun on the bible.
“We recognize that all of us are by nature, free and equal and have certain inalienable rights. Among which are enjoying and defending life and liberty, acquiring, possessing and protecting property and pursuing happiness and securing safety,” McGeachin said.
She appeared in the video with several members of the state’s legislature to protest Republican Gov. Brad Little’s order that limits gathering to less than 50 people.
McGeachin called the new restriction disappointing adding, “respecting individual liberty and property rights must remain the foundation of all policy decisions in our state.”
The state recorded 62,746 confirmed cases of the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic and 615 deaths, according to data from Johns Hopkins.
Over the past week, Idaho have seen 893 cases per day on average, a 35% increase from the average two weeks earlier, according to the New York Times.
