Ivanka Trump will not be challenging incumbent Florida Sen. Marco Rubio for his seat in 2022, according to reports.
The New York Times first reported the news that Ivanka will not primary Rubio in 2022, despite speculation among Florida politicos that she might have, especially since she moved to the state after her father lost the presidential election to Joe Biden in a landslide.
Ivanka called Rubio a “good personal friend” in a statement to CBS News, adding, “I know he will continue to drive meaningful progress on issues we both care deeply about.”
Rubio and Ivanka reportedly had a conversation not long after the January 6 Capitol riot, where she informed him of her decision not to run.
“Marco did speak with Ivanka a few weeks ago,” Nick Iacovella, a spokesman for Rubio, told the New York Times. “Ivanka offered her support for Marco’s reelection. They had a great talk.”
