GOP Ohio Senate candidate J.D. Vance moved a ‘meet and greet’ with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) from the Landing Event Center after management at the venue found out the controversial congresswoman would be at the event.
According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, management only knew that a client asked to rent the space for an event on Sunday involving Vance. They were unaware that Greene, who recently endorsed Vance, would be making an appearance at the event until Thursday when angry emails, phone calls and messages start pouring in.
General Manager for the Landing Event Center, Jodi Taylor said management felt they weren’t in a position to hold the event. She also said they didn’t know it was open to the public and would have an unknown number of people, according to the Enquirer.
“We just chose to respect it was a very emotional topic,” Taylor said. “People are passionate about what they believe. We were wrapping our heads around what was going on. We didn’t know there would be a guest.”
Vance’s campaign told the Cincinnati Enquirer that the event was moved because they were expecting more people to attend the event than they previously planned.
The event was relocated to the Marriott Cincinnati.
The Landing Event Center released a statement on Facebook saying: “Due to the tremendous interest in the JD Vance presentation that was scheduled to take place here this Sunday, it has been relocated to the Marriott NE located in Deerfield Twp. We appreciate everyone’s interest and concerns.”
Taylor said the venue didn’t want to jump into the politics.
“It doesn’t matter what we do,” she said. “We have both sides upset.”
