House Oversight Committee chairman Rep James Comer (R-Ky.) is still claiming that President Joe Biden committed “many crimes” even after his ill-fated impeachment inquiry failed to produce any evidence of these alleged crimes.
In an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on Sunday, Comer suggested that his committee will go after Biden next after Republicans leading the failed impeachment inquiry into the president sent criminal referrals to the DOJ recommending charges against Hunter Biden and James Biden for making false statements to Congress.
“We’re just beginning,” Comer told Bartiromo according to a clip highlighted by Mediaite. “A lot of those crimes that the Bidens have committed, the statute of limitations has run out. But we’re going to deal with those, and we’re going to deal with Joe Biden.”
Asked whether there will be a “criminal referral against Joe Biden for money laundering?” Comer responded: “I think that it’s no secret Joe Biden’s committed many crimes.”
“I think that you’re going to see a report very soon,” he continued. “That report is imminent. That’ll probably be an interim report that updates everyone on the crimes that Biden and his administration have committed throughout this investigation and through the years of the Obama-Biden administration.”
Comer has led the impeachment inquiry of Biden that has failed to produce any evidence of a crime, a fact that hasn’t gone unnoticed even by Republicans.
“One would be hard pressed to find the best moment for James Comer in the Oversight Committee. It’s been a parade of embarrassments,” a GOP lawmaker said.
Others GOP lawmakers, like Nebraska Rep. Don Bacon has been more willing to speak to publicly speak out about the lack of evidence against Biden.
“At this point there’s not a specific crime that’s been committed,” Bacon told NBC News.
