Jan. 6 committee is considering issuing subpoenas to current GOP lawmakers.

The Select House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot is looking at issuing subpoenas to sitting Republican lawmakers to comply to comply with committee’s investigation.

The committee is no examining whether they have the authority to lawfully issue subpoenas to sitting members of Congress, chairman Bennie Thompson said on Sunday.

“I think there are some questions of whether we have the authority to do it,” Thompson said. “We’re looking at it. If the authorities are there, there’ll be no reluctance on our part.”

The committee has sent letters to two current Republican members of Congress, Reps. Jim Jordan and Scott Perry.

The committee asked Jordan to provide testimony about his telephone conversations with Trump on Jan. 6. Jordan told Fox he had “real concerns” about the committee’s credibility, but was reviewing the letter.

Perry has flat out refuse to engage with the committee. He has ignored their request for testimony about Trump’s attempts to install Jeffrey Clarke as acting head of the Department of Justice in the closing days of his presidency as he tries to overturn the results of the election.
