Vice-President JD Vance was loudly booed by the audience at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Thursday.
According to reporter Andrew Roth, Vance and his wife Usha were booed after they were spotted by members of the audience.
The Vances were at the Kennedy Center for a performance of Stravinsky’s Petrushka by the National Symphony Orchestra and Greek violinist Leonidas Kavakos.
The Kennedy Center’s leadership underwent a total overhaul under the Trump presidency. Last month, Trump fired the 18 Democratic-appointed members of the organization’s board of trustees and replace them with loyalists.
Trump also fired longtime chairman David Rubenstein, then made himself chairman.
Since then, ticket sales have plummeted and several performers who were slated to appear at the Kennedy Center have pulled out, including the cast of Hamilton.
