JD Vance says he is “skeptical” that Pence’s life was in danger on Jan. 6.

JD Vance calls polls “fake” when confronted by Fox News host on Trump’s flagging numbers.

Ohio Sen. JD Vance (R) does not believe that former Vice-President Mike Pence’s life was ever in danger on Jan. 6 despite him fleeing from the mob of Trump supporters chanting “hang Mike Pence” with a gallows erected outside.

In an interview on CNN’s ‘The Source’ host Kaitlan Collins asked Vance if he has any reservations about Trump considering him as a potential running mate given how he treated Pence.

“Well, I’m truly skeptical that Mike Pence’s life was ever in danger,” Vance said. “I think politics and politics people like to really exaggerate things from time to time.”

Collins noted that some of the rioters were chanting “Hang Mike Pence!” as they stormed the building.

“Well, Kaitlan, did a few people say some bad things? Sure. But do we blame Donald Trump for every bad thing that’s ever been said by a participant in American democracy? I think that’s an absurd standard,” Vance responded.

Pence was rushed to a secure location, an underground parking bay, where he stayed for four and a half hours as the mob of Trump supporters descended on the Capitol on Jan. 6 to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

The former vice-president came within 40ft of the mob.

According to testimony before the House select committee investigating Jan. 6, Pence’s Secret Service agents were so fearful for his and their safety that some agents made “calls to say goodbye to family members.”
