White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki pushed back on Congressman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) who blamed an increase in gas prices on President Joe Biden as the country starts to reopen after the a lock down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Average gas price: June 2020: $2.21 June 2021: $3.07,” Jordan tweeted. “President Biden’s economy!”Â
Press Secretary Jen Psaki responded to Jordan’s tweet by defending the job the Biden administration has done to help the country’s economy recover after the COVID crisis.
“You forgot to mention that gas prices are the same now as they were in June 2018. Or that this time last year unemployment was 11.1% — today it’s 5.8%,” she said. “@POTUS agrees families shouldn’t pay more at the pump – that’s why he’s opposed to GOP proposals to raise the gas tax.”
