Donald Trump’s former attorney Jenna Ellis suggested on Wednesday that the victims of the massacre at Club Q, a LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs, Colorado, are burning in hell.
“There is no evidence at all that [the victims] were Christians,” Ellis said on her show. “So assuming that they were not, that they had not accepted the truth of the Gospel of Christ and affirmed Jesus Christ as the Lord of their life, they are now reaping the consequences of having eternal damnation … they are now in eternal separation from our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.”
Five people were killed and at least 17 others were injured after gunman Anderson Aldrich,22, opened fire at Club Q in Colorado Springs on Saturday before they were subdued by two patrons. Among the dead were Daniel Aston, 28, Derrick Rump, 38, Kelly Loving, 40, Ashley Paugh, 35, and Raymond Green Vance, 22.
Lawyers for Aldrich have said in a court filing that their client is non-binary.
Aldrich is being held in El Paso County Jail.
Aldrich appeared in court virtually on Wednesday for an advisement hearing with apparent bruises on their face. They were ordered to remain in jail without bail.
Aldrich faces five counts of murder and five counts of committing a bias-motivated crime causing bodily injury.
