Another member of the Kennedy family has publicly criticized Robert F. Kennedy Jr as he launched a long shot bid for the Democratic nomination for president, and endorsed President Joe Biden.
Jack Schlossberg, the son of Caroline Kennedy and grandson of President John F. Kennedy, slammed his cousin, RFK Jr., on Friday for “trading in on Camelot, celebrity conspiracy theories and conflict for personal gain and fame.”
“I’ve listened to him. I know him. I have no idea why anyone thinks he should be president,” Schlossberg said in an Instagram video. “What I do know is his candidacy is an embarrassment. Let’s not be distracted, again, by somebody’s vanity project.”
Schlossberg threw his support behind Biden saying he “shares my grandfather’s vision for America: That we do things not because they are easy, but because they are hard.”
He highlighted some of Biden’s accomplishments during his first term in office including, creating millions of jobs, historically low unemployment numbers, investments in infrastructure and green energy, and the appointment of federal judges.
Schlossberg also praised Biden for ending the country’s longest war, his administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic and “he ended Donald Trump.”
“These are the issues that matter. And if my cousin, Bobby Kennedy Jr., cared about any of them, he would support Joe Biden, too,” Schlossberg said.
This is the third time this week that members of the Kennedy family have condemned RFK Jr.
On Monday Kerry Kennedy, RFK Jr’s sister rebuked him over his suggestion that COVID-19 was “ethnically targeted” to spare Jews and Chinese people.
“I strongly condemn my brother’s deplorable and untruthful remarks last week about Covid being engineered for ethnic targeting,” she said in a statement. “His statements do not represent what I believe or what Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights stand for, with our 50+ year track record of protecting rights and standing against racism and all forms of discrimination.”
Former Rep. Joe Kennedy III (D-Mass.) also publicly condemning RFK Jr.’s remarks on COVID-19.
“My uncle’s comments were hurtful and wrong,” Kennedy wrote in a tweet . “I unequivocally condemn what he said.”
