Jill Biden: "What they're doing to Hunter is cruel."

First lady Jill Biden slammed House Republicans over their “cruel” treatment of Hunter Biden during an interview with MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski which aired Thursday on Morning Joe.

House Republicans have accused President Joe Biden, without a shred of evidence, of benefiting from Hunter’s foreign business dealings.

Hunter has struggled with substance abuse issues in the past and Republicans have constantly used his legal woes and past behavior to attack the president.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) even went as far as to show nude photos of Hunter during a congressional hearing, twice–last July and once again on Wednesday.

“I think what they are doing to Hunter is cruel, and I’m really proud of how Hunter has rebuilt his life after addiction,” the first lady said. “I love my son and it’s hurt, it’s hurt my grandchildren, and that’s what I’m so concerned about – that it’s affecting their lives as well.”

The first lady’s comments came one day after the Republican-led House Judiciary and Oversight committees voted to approve a resolution recommending contempt of Congress charges against Hunter for failing to comply with a subpoena for closed-door testimony in their impeachment inquiry of President Biden.

Hunter, who made a surprise appearance at the Capitol Wednesday, has said he is willing to testify, but will only do so in public.

In addition to the House GOP impeachment probe, Hunter is also facing charges in Delaware for allegedly purchasing a firearm while addicted to illegal drugs and facing federal tax charges.

All the charges were filed against him by David Weiss, a Trump-appointed US Attorney in Delaware who Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed special counsel to oversee the probes last year.
