Joe Biden plans to name COVID-19 task force on Monday: Report.

President-elect Joe Biden is already signaling that getting the coronavirus pandemic under control is a top priority in the Biden/Harris administration.

According to Axios, Biden will announce a 12 member task force on Monday to combat and contain the spread of the coronavirus. The task force will be led by former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, former FDA Commissioner David Kessler and Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith from Yale University. These are individuals who have worked with Biden throughout his campaign by advising the candidate on health policies to contain the spread of the virus.

The pandemic was front and center in voters’ minds during the elections and may have been a decisive factor in Joe Biden’s win. Americans trust him way more than Donald Trump to handle the coronavirus pandemic.

This comes as the country continues to set daily records for new coronavirus infections. The United States, for the third day in a row set a new daily record of 126,480 new coronavirus infections on Friday, according to data released by the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center. This brings the total number of infections in the country to more than 9.7 million and more than 236,000 deaths.
