‘The Joe Rogan Experience,’ Spotify’s top podcast which is at the center of several controversies mysteriously disappeared from the streaming service twice, according to multiple reports.
The show briefly disappeared on Monday, but it was back online as of Monday evening. The streaming service did not offer an explanation why the popular show mysteriously vanished.
The show’s disappearance is noteworthy given the controversy surrounding its host for spreading misinformation about COVID-19 and use of racial slurs.
Last month, Neil Young asked Spotify to remove his music to protest Rogan’s comments. Other musicians including Joni Mitchell also asked the streaming service to remove her music from the platform in solidarity with Young.
“The Joe Rogan Experience” signed exclusive rights to Spotify in May 2020, a deal that was reported by The New York Times to be worth $200 million.Â
Monday’s outage was not the first time Rogan’s show vanished from the platform. The podcast vanished on Friday but reappeared minutes later. Spotify said at the time that it was due to technical difficulties.
“It’s a technical issue affecting a number of our shows and should be resolved soon,” a spokesperson said.
