Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) feigned surprised on Tuesday when asked about the House impeachment inquiry launched by Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) against President Joe Biden.
“Oh my god, really?” Fetterman asked, placing both hands over his ears.
“Oh my gosh, you know, oh, it’s devastating,” he continued. “Ooo, don’t do it. Please don’t do it! Oh, no! Oh, no.”
Hours earlier McCarthy announced that he is directing Reps. James Comer (R-Ky.), Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Jason Smith (R-Mo.) the chairmen of House Oversight, Judiciary and Ways and Means committees, respectively, to formally launch an impeachment inquiry into Biden.
All three lawmakers have been leading months long investigations of Biden and is yet to produce any evidence of wrongdoing by the president.
Despite this, McCarthy claimed on Twitter that “House Republicans have uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden’s conduct-a culture of corruption.”
Fetterman and Democrats are the only ones skeptical of House Republicans’ push to impeach Biden. Several Republican senators are also in the record saying House Republicans do not have the evidence to merit an impeachment.
